Necklace - "Indian Corn," 5 Strands by Lester Abeyta (Santo Domingo)

 This 5 strand "Indian Corn" necklace features dark green serpentine, with highlights of bright blue turquoise, black jet, brown pipestone, white clam shell and beige melon shell, finished with sterling silver cones and an extender for adjusting the length. The contrasting colors and light weight make this a necklace that can be worn anytime, to work, to play or for an evening out.

Lester Abeyta continues the ancient art of bead making for which the Santo Domingo Pueblo is known.  The stones or shell are cut and drilled one by one, and then, with the use of a grinding machine, shaped into round beads.
